Walleye, Asparagus, and Radish

Back to the market and back to great local produce. Kate's Fish walleye, Muddy Fork Farm asparagus, and Covered Bridge Gardens radishes. Nothing needed to be adorned. Pan fried seasoned walleye cooked in a mix of butter and grapeseed oil, steamed asparagus shocked in ice water and reheated in some butter, and radishes (which were great in their own right) dressed lightly with salt and olive oil.

And I've learned to be careful in the future with giving a friend in Chicago carte blanche to plan meals for upcoming visits. I came home today to find this in an e-mail:

Friday: Avec

Saturday lunch: Frontera Grill

Saturday dinner: Trotters/Alinea (reservations in progress)

Sunday dinner?: Spacca Napoli

If you were curious, the Alinea reservation worked out, and we'll probably go with the Sunday pizza. Then I'll come home and take out a second mortgage.

fishmonger needs your number again

and Avec is so incredibly awesome you could just spend the whole weekend hopping back and forth between there and the bird

Muddy Fork was doing a brisk business last Saturday. I love those thick ass asparagus for grilling. Good stuff.

Monger, will call.

DineO, I'm a skinny stalk man myself--that'll leave more of the fat stuff for you. Either way I agree, good stuff.

Sigh .. I really need to stand outside your door with plate in hand ... great dish. Another vote for skinny asparagus :)

Went to Alinea last August with friends. Did The Tour and had the most amazing 5 1/2 hour experience of my life. While not for everybody, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Enjoy yourself!

OHMom, I'll make up a plate.

Tino, we're doing the tour too. I really liked minibar, and Komi was kind of similar, and have even higher expectations for Alinea. It's been DCentric until now.
